Another Bettertax Hi Vis Winner!

Admittedly we were a little wanting in the declaring of our first hi vis photo prize winner, Chris Lee. Here's Chris' story.

Not so for our January 2012 - March 2012 winner. The winner was announced as Gareth Bailey, shortly after 1st April.

Gareth is a scaffolder and this is his winning picture:

The prize each quarter is of the winner's choice to the value of £100. Gareth is a keen fisherman, winning a Junior Welsh record for catching a sea bass weighing 10lbs 8oz - bet that made a nice dinner!

He has carried on enjoying fishing and can be seen regularly on a south coast beach hoping to lure in sea bass, plaice and mackeral.

He tells me the bass fishing season is just starting and his chosen prize was this sea bass fishing rod:

Gareth has received this rod now and we can't wait to see pictures of his latest catch!

To be part of the competition, get in touch for a hi vis vest and then get snapping!!

New Tax Code for a new Tax Year 2012: 810L

There have been some concerns over recent letters from HMRC changing tax codes from the basic 747L to the new basic code, 810L.

This change is absolutely ok and reflects the change to the amount of income you can now earn before tax, £8105.00 per annum.

The change is effective from 6th April 2012 and no action needs to be taken.

IF you get a tax code change significantly higher than 810L and would like some advice, as ever, give us a quick call.

Bettertax pay your VAT for Tax Refunds on 2011 - 2012 Tax Year!

Everyone dislikes paying VAT and being in our line of business, it goes without saying that we don't like to charge it...particularly on the service we provide.

After all, our service only facilitates the recovery of tax, that you’ve already overpaid. Bettertax have decided that our clients will not pay the VAT owed for the 2011/12 tax year. We will in fact, pay the VAT for you.

This means you’ll get the full 70% of your claim back as opposed to the 64% you would have received after VAT in previous years.

We looked for a good solution that would benefit all clients and decided that applying this offer to the 11/12 tax year only, seems to be the fairest for everyone.

Bettertax will never be the type of company that only gives special offers & rates to new clients...where would we be without our returning clients? So, if tax years 08/09, 09/10 & 10/11 are also being claimed in addition to your 11/12, those previous years will be subject to VAT as they were for all existing clients.

We're very happy to be able to offer this discounted price to all our clients as we look to welcome back existing customers along with saying "hello" to new ones! The new tax year started on 6th April 2012 and we are now talking with and doing tax returns for the 11/12 tax year. If you are CIS and have details of your earnings, you can start the ball rolling now. PAYE tradesmen need to have a P60 to get things started, but you can be collating details of your expenses. You should get your P60 anytime between now and the end of May.

So, let Bettertax pay your Tax! We look forward to speaking with you!

PRESS RELEASE: Bettertax are thriving and flourishing

It's been brought to our attention by some of our clients that there’s a rumour circling with regards to our current status. This rumour seems to have come about due to a small number of delayed payments to clients in the last week, and so we thought we should take the opportunity to make the situation clear.

During last week, (March 26th 2012) and even through to today, (April 2nd 2012) our bank has had server issues on the bank's side, meaning we haven't been able to get access to our secure client bank account to pay clients' tax refunds out, into their accounts.

There have been some slight delays but they are simply slight delays as a consequence of the above and nothing more sinister. All client funds are absolutely safe and held in the same secure bank account they’ve always been. Clients can rest assured that we’re making every effort to get their money to them as quickly as possible.

Let us assure anyone reading this, and most importantly, our clients, that despite any rumours you may have heard, we are in fact entering the next phase of our growth and employing more staff to continue to provide the excellent customer service we have built a reputation for and you’ve become accustomed to whilst our client base continues to grow.

We have complete faith that Barclays Bank are doing all that is necessary for their online servers to be working properly as soon as possible.

Thanks, the Bettertax team
